BLAIR CASTLE International Horse Trials continues to extend its appeal year on year whether it be the addition of arena displays, new classes or novel shopping experiences.

This year the event, which takes place from August 26-29, will play host to two new sections of showing – CHAPS and veterans.

On Thursday, there will be two CHAPS classes for coloured horses and ponies; ridden non-native open and ridden native/cob/traditional open, which will both be qualifiers for the CHAPS (UK) Championships. The classes will takes place in the Tilt Arena after the show hunters and riding horses.

Veteran Horse Society classes are becoming increasingly popular and Blair is lucky to have been awarded two Olympia area qualifiers; open mixed-age in-hand, and open mixed-age ridden. These classes are open to members and non-members of the Veteran Horse Society but only members can qualify for the regional championships which lead to Olympia.

The event already hosts a working hunter show, Highland pony show and NPS Scotland finals with Olympia qualifiers, while working hunter ponies, ex-racehorse classes and ridden Clydesdales all add to the excitement and entertainment over the four days.

Schedules and entry forms for all the classes will be available in due course on the website at www.blairhorsetrials.co.uk
