SET WITHIN the stunning grounds of Bolesworth Castle in Tattenhall, Cheshire, the Bolesworth Castle Showjumping Classic and Country Fair (July 15-18) is rapidly becoming the highlight of the equestrian calendar for both competitors and visitors.
Nestling amongst the exciting array of showjumping classes boasting a £60,000 prize fund (one of the largest prize funds in the UK this year) there is also a new addition for 2010 in the form of ‘The Eventing Grand Prix’ class, which will put event riders and show-jumpers head to head in this battle for the first prize of £2,000.
Entries are already flooding in from all over the UK for this class, with international eventer Oliver Townend already entered as he explains: “I am really looking forward to competing at this show – its fast becoming a fixture for many professional riders, due to its great atmosphere and challenging courses and now with this new class being introduced this year –it gives us eventers the chance to prove ourselves”

After a couple of recent visits to Musselburgh racecourse, I am of the view that it is a worthy contender for a racecourse of the year award.
