William Fox-Pitt and Cool Mountain won the Rolex Kentucky CCI**** at the weekend following on from last summer’s great victory in the three-star at Blair Castle International Horse Trials.
Fox-Pitt commented: “I am thrilled to have won at Kentucky. Our win at Blair Castle last year and our prep run at Burnham Market three weeks ago were the ideal preparation and it was exactly what we needed just before Kentucky. Cool Mountain is still a young horse, and it’s a real bonus to have won on such a young horse.”
Director of Blair Castle International Horse Trials Alec Lochore said: “It is thrilling to know that the big international classes the team run at Blair provide such education and confidence that this fabulous horse can go on and win one of our sports Grand Slam events at such a young age.”
William Fox Pitt will start as one of the favourite for this weeks Mitsubishi Badminton Horse Trials which is the second leg of the eventing grand slam.

After a couple of recent visits to Musselburgh racecourse, I am of the view that it is a worthy contender for a racecourse of the year award.
