Charlotte and Valegro set new grand prix record

DOUBLE Olympic gold medallist Charlotte Dujardin set a new world record at Olympia with her London partner Valegro.

The pair made their first appearance since winning gold this summer at the London Olympics, at the show on Monday night to set a new world grand prix record in the Reem Acra FEI World Cup dressage qualifier with a score of 84.447%.

Their Olympic score was 83.66% and the previous world record of 84.08% was set by Edward Gal and Totilas at the European Championship at Windsor in 2009.

German rider Isabell Werth was second with the 11-year-old Don Johnson scoring 76.362%.

Edward Gal and his Olympic ride, Glock's Undercover, were third.
