Northallerton-based junior show jumper, Laura Robinson is celebrating after winning this year’s EquestrianClearance.com scholarship.
Laura (15) has had a lot of success in pony show jumping and also represented Great Britain at the Children on Horses European Championships in Belgium last year, where they formed part of the gold medal winning team.
To top off a remarkable 2009, Laura also scooped the leading junior showjumper of the year at HOYS, riding the talented grey Paddy Power.
As the winner of the EquestrianClearance.com Scholarship Laura receives £2,000 to spend on line and will also receive a wealth of information and knowledge on how to work with the media to raise her profile and also gain an insight into how a business such as EquestrianClearance.com operates in today’s market place.
Laura has built a strong team of ponies and is also rapidly developing a talented group of horses to take her to the next stage in her chosen sport.
Said Laura: “To win the EquestrianClearance.com scholarship is brilliant. Not only having access to the thousands of products they stock on line but also to have their all round support and commitment is a massive boost.
“I am determined to make show jumping my career and at this stage having the support from EquestrianClearance.com is a big step forward.
“I am very fortunate to have backing from my family, we all work as a team and share the ups and down that come with owning and competing horses and ponies.
“I am also looking forward to learning more about marketing in the equestrian world, visiting the EquestrianClearance.com offices and developing a blog to help highlight both the sponsorship and my career potential.
“This is a very innovative form of support and a great addition to the prizes and promotional clothing.”
Said Lorraine Meadowcroft of EquestrianClearance.com: “We were inundated with hundreds of entries and were delighted with the standard.
“Laura stood out both for her talent and her commitment in achieving her goals to ride for Great Britain and make show jumping her career.
“We are very pleased to be supporting Laura in her efforts to reach the top of her sport.”
With a yard full of good horses and ponies, Laura is set for a busy season and this year hopes to ride on both the pony European team and the under 18 squad.

After a couple of recent visits to Musselburgh racecourse, I am of the view that it is a worthy contender for a racecourse of the year award.
