Talented young show jumper, Scott Brash from Peebles experienced team success last weekend (May 14-16) while competing at the Meydan FEI Nations Cup in La Baule, France.

Scott, 25, who is on the British Equestrian Federation’s (BEF) World Class Development Programme, was making his debut in the Super League Nation’s Cup competition and helped secure a team equal third placing.

Riding Intertoy Z, an 11-year-old black gelding owned by Scott’s father, Stanley Brash, Scott had two poles down in the first round, followed by a clear in the second.

“I was disappointed with myself in the first round,” said Scott. “I was worried about the time so rushed Intertoy a little too much. Patience paid off in the second round though and I was delighted to go clear. It was a great experience to compete for my country at this level and fabulous to come away with an equal third place.

“I’ve had a really successful start to the season with Intertoy and remain committed to doing all that I can to ensure it continues – we need to prove ourselves if we want to remain in contention for team selection.”

The World Class Programme incorporates the three Olympic sports of dressage, eventing, show jumping and the Paralympic sport of para-equestrian dressage. It comprises the Performance and Development programmes plus the Equine Pathway.

The aim of the Programme is to have in place a sustainable system that can deliver more medals on the international stage now and in the future. The programme has been funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, through Exchequer and National Lottery funds, via UK Sport since 1998.
