Howe Country Centre now closed

THERE was further disappointment for horse owners in the eastern side of Scotland with the announcement that How Country Centre, in Giffordtown, Fife has closed their doors to equestrian events.

A notice on their website stated that as from 6pm on Sunday, October 14, 2012, Howe Country Centre will cease trading for all equestrian events.

Owner Charlie Wilson later posted on facebook saying: "We are also sad in some ways, but after massive investment intially and then the current economic climate which has reduced entries it is not viable anymore, we did try to hold on to part of it by way of renting out part of the building for regular income. The council do not help either with huge rates! We thank those who did support us. This weekend will be the last event and the doors close on Sunday. We will carry on our contracting and paddock services. There are too many centres and small yards running shows there is not enough room for everyone."
