This year saw a record entry at Sutherland County Show with nearly 200 horses and ponies entered.
Overall supreme light horse was won by Diane Ross with her coloured cob Kingston.
The Highland championship was won by Liana Ballingall from Maryburgh with her yearling colt, Highfield Ben Cleuch. Reserve went to Anne Mightens from Dingwall with the mare Deerdykes Dawn Rose.
The Shetland pony classes were dominated once again by Jim and Rene Swan from Conon Bridge taking the champion sash with their yearling filly, Stow Eliza Jane, and the reserve championship with the yeld mare Stow Verity.
In the light horse classes, the in-hand champion was Hazel Maciver, from Avoch, with a three-year-old Welsh gelding, Larchspur General, and the reserve was won by Karen Mowat, from Munlochy, with her Welsh pony Waxwing Lapel. Karen Mowat was also reserve in the ridden equivalent with her warmblood gelding, Troy ridden by Sarah Ross.
Working hunter championship was Lauren Hansen from Invergordon with Little Cliff, and the reserve was Lucy Stewart from Garve with her Welsh pony, Molly.
The driving championship was won by Mary Edmundson, from East Mey, driving her pony Rosie. Mary is 77 years old and has been driving since she was seven years old. Reserve place went to Morag and Fiona Dalton from Rosehall with their Shetland pony, Warrackston Squirrel.

After a couple of recent visits to Musselburgh racecourse, I am of the view that it is a worthy contender for a racecourse of the year award.
