Point-to-pointing enthusiasts will need to wait

POINT-TO-POINTING enthusiasts will need to wait until January after the first of the Northern Area 2012/2013 point-to-point season was called off.

The 2012/13 season was due to come under orders yesterday (Sunday) at Alnwick but continuing bad weather scuppered plans.

An announcement on the Alnwick Races website on Friday said: "Following an early inspection, Sunday's fixture has been abandoned due to unsuitable ground."

The point-to-point season will therefore start on January 20, 2013 with West Percy meeting, followed by the Jedforest point-to-point a week later on January 27.
