SET WITHIN the stunning grounds of Bolesworth Castle in Tattenhall, Cheshire, the Bolesworth Castle Showjumping Classic and Country Fair (July 15-18) is rapidly becoming the highlight of the equestrian calendar for both competitors and visitors.

The organisers at the second Central Scotland horse trials, held at Scone Palace, really had their work cut out for them as weather conditions deteriorated in the lead up to the event.

HARD GROUND which had taken a hammering from heavy rain the day before competition made for some very slippy conditions at Hopetoun House horse trials last weekend, with organisers only able to advise competitors, during the first prize giving of the day, that in future years they should each take a long hard look at the ground and how its riding, and “stud accordingly”.
SCONE PALACE hosted the first of its two fixtures this year.
CLEA PHILLIPPS, once again, dominated the advanced class at the 51st Eglinton horse trials with Lead The Way when posting the best dressage and despite being stopped across country for over one hour was unfazed to record the fastest round, winning with five penalties in hand.
